Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about our products and approach to modern wealth management.

What is Aure?

Aure is a flat-fee wealth and tax management firm for California professionals and entrepreneurs, integrating investments, taxes, retirement, business compliance, and document management in one secure platform, with a dedicated human advisor guiding every decision.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes. Aure is a registered investment advisor, and we act as fiduciaries at all times. A fiduciary holds a legal and ethical relationship of trust with the person whom they are serving. Therefore, Aure is legally obligated to provide advice in your best interest.

Where are my assets held?

Your investment accounts are held directly at Charles Schwab, an independent third-party custodian. Your accounts remain in your name. Aure does not custody client assets or take possession of your money. We manage accounts with your authorization and you can always view your accounts directly through Charles Schwab. We don't work for Charles Schwab or earn commissions, so every recommendation we make is in your best interest.

How does Aure get paid?

Aure uses a transparent flat-fee model. We do not charge a percentage of assets under management, we do not earn commissions, and we do not receive compensation for recommending specific products. Our goal is to align our incentives with yours.

What sets Aure apart?

Most firms focus only on investments or only on taxes. Aure manages both. What makes Aure different: California Expertise: we specialize in California professionals and entrepreneurs, with deep expertise in the state's unique tax landscape and financial complexities. Transparent Flat Fee: No AUM percentage fees, no hidden costs, no withdrawal restrictions. Unlike traditional 1% AUM fees that erode long-term wealth, our fees don't change with AUM. Integrated Tax + Investment Strategy: we align your portfolio and tax strategy so each decision optimizes the other. Higher Yield: we buy Treasury bills directly to help deliver higher after-tax returns than most HYSA accounts or money market funds. Institutional grade tools and Security: we have partnered with America's leading financial institutions to give you top security, regulatory protection, and a secure wealth dashboard to help organize your financial life.

Who is Aure best for?

Aure is designed for busy professionals and entrepreneurs with complex finances. We are often a strong fit for people who want: • Coordinated investment and tax strategy • California tax expertise • Help managing concentrated stock, real estate, or multiple income streams • A flat-fee structure instead of paying more as assets grow • A simpler way to manage wealth, taxes, retirement, and business obligations

How does transferring of assets work?

Transferring your investment accounts is simple and secure through the ACAT system, which moves assets "in-kind". This means nothing is sold or changed during the transfer. Whether you are moving a taxable brokerage or retirement IRA account, your investments stay exactly the same. We do not make any changes to your portfolio until you approve a personalized plan built around your goals and tax strategy.

Do I need to move all of my assets to work with Aure?

No. You do not need to move every account. Many clients keep some assets elsewhere. That said, Aure is generally best suited for professionals who want meaningful coordination across their financial life and who have at least $600,000 of investable assets with Aure. This ensures our flat-fee structure remains appropriate and beneficial for all our customers.

Can I use Aure for tax management only?

Yes. Tax management is offered as a standalone product. We are an IRS authorized e-file provider.

Do you only provide tax advice, or do you also file returns?

Aure handles tax planning, filing, and audit representation. Tax planning focuses on forward-looking strategy, while tax preparation and e-filing handle the actual return. We believe the combination is especially valuable for clients with complex financial lives.

How do you invest client portfolios?

Our investment philosophy is grounded in long-term, tax-aware investing. We generally favor low-cost, diversified index-based portfolios and tailor implementation to each client’s goals, tax profile, liquidity needs, and risk tolerance. In certain situations, we also use targeted options strategies such as covered calls or cash-secured puts tailored for income, protection, or growth.

Do I have to approve portfolio changes?

Yes. We begin with your goals, current holdings, and tax situation. If an account transfer occurs, assets can typically move without being sold first. Any broader portfolio strategy or transition plan is discussed with you before implementation.

How is my data protected?

Protecting client information is a core priority. Aure uses secure systems and encrypted infrastructure to help safeguard sensitive data. Investment accounts remain at Charles Schwab, and your dashboard is designed to give you visibility and organization without compromising security. We use bank level encryption to protect your data in transit and at rest.

Can I cancel my plan at any time?

Yes. You may cancel with 30 days’ notice. There are no long-term lockups and no cancellation fees. We believe a client relationship should continue because it delivers value, not because it is difficult to leave.

Why work with Aure if I can do this myself?

Many smart professionals can manage parts of their finances on their own. The value of Aure is coordination, expertise, and time saved. We help clients: • Avoid costly tax and investment mistakes • Bring multiple financial decisions into one strategy • Simplify complex situations • Stay disciplined and objective • Adapt your plan to changing circumstances, ensuring your long-term financial wellness and peace of mind • Free up time to focus on work, business, and family. Plus, our fees are tax deductible for entrepreneurs or rental property owners.

As a California-based firm, Aure is well-versed in California's unique tax and financial complexities
